Librarianship and the demands for new leadership Skills: Day 1&2



The collaborative workshop between the IT section of Nigerian Library Association( NLA), IfeGrace Ventures Limited and Ghana Library Association (GLA) kicked off  yesterday with  wide ranging representation of librarians from across Ghana and Nigeria in attendance.


Amongst the key dignitaries in attendance were the Ghanaian second lady in government, Her Excellency Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur who was the former president of GLA, Prof. Ellis Badu and a huge other representation of the academia from the catchment institutions.

Mrs. Martilda delivered the keynote address. The conference theme is Librarianship and the demands for new leadership skills .The conference is focused at heads of libraries and emerging leaders in Librarianship. The conference seeks to
1) Explore the leadership qualities expected of modern day heads of libraries
2) Reveal the leadership skills expected of a twenty-first century library leaders
3) The third goal of the workshop/seminar is to equip leaders with performance evaluation skills as applicable to librarianship.

On the line-up of resource persons attacking the  conference theme are Dr. James O Daniel, president of west African library association(WALA),Prof. Ellis Badu of university  of Ghana library, and Prof. D. Osyn Okanya and Dr Solomon Avbioroko.
