GONE TO REST IN THE LORD

-Tribute to my Late Father-in-Law

You have  gone to rest, 
You have gone to meet the LORD that called you, 
Once to serve but now to rest
Your sudden departure remains to us a shudder. 
We craved for you many years of good health 
Alas! You chose to leave, to rest in the LORD

Pastor Samson Olajiire Adeyeye,
I recollect on the nightfall of June the 21st
When I called to wish you ’Happy Father's Day’
Your anticipative voice sounded exultant
Alas! that was the last of such gracious tone
That's now Gone to rest, gone to rest in the LORD

To me your son, to my wife your first daughter
And to Delight and Desire your grandchildren
You were invaluable as the sunlight to earth
It was indeed our delight and desire
To have you longer on the transient terrene
Alas! You have gone to rest, gone to rest in the LORD

Though tears and sorrow may not suffice
But never to fade our memories of you
Affectionate memories of a father to us
Will linger as long as light shines upon our times
Farewell till we meet someday to part no more
Now  that you have gone to rest - Rest in peace in the LORD
