World Book Day comes every first Thursday of
March every year: A day to celebrate the joys of books and Reading.
The central
goal of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of
books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of
their own. It is a
celebration of READING, celebration of authors, librarians, publishers and all who
are involve Books and reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its
kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and
marked in over 100 countries all over the world including Nigeria.
This is the 16th year of celebrating World Book
Day,
Abadina Media Resource Centre, University of Ibadan, in celebrating World Book Day 2013, organizes reading programme for children
in Ibadan metropolis. Soliciting donation of books for the Children’s Library
and also encourages everyone to give a book gift to a child on that day.
