Emerald Knowledge Ambassadors
Program is an annual workshop that brings students and eResources librarians
together with the aim of to share experiences on promoting electronic
resources across the different universities and also to discuss the way forward
in terms of what can be improved upon
The program began in Kenya in 2013
and it is expected to be organized in all countries in sub- Saharan Africa
region in the near future.
2015 Emerald Knowledge
Ambassadors Workshop holds on 9th July 2015 at Strathmore University, Nairobi Kenya.
Over 110 participants from 20 universities are expected to participate in this
year event
There will be innovative project
presentations on the following topics:
- How technological effects in Kenya have contributed in
developing the country against the challenges it faces and innovativeness
such mobile banking (M-PESA).
- The impact and importance of mobile access to research
(paying special attention to Emerald mobile pairing)
- Student role/influence in the acquisition of
e-resources in the library
- Unfolding technology in education or the library
At the end winners will emerge and awads will be presented in the following categories
Who are Knowledge Ambassadors?
Knowledge Ambassadors as stated on Emerald Group Publishing
(Emerald 2015) is one who uses and understands the library resources and
is able to create awareness of the resources to increase usage among fellow
users (students). A Knowledge ambassador can be:-
• A student
• A lecturer
• A librarian or any library
worker
The site also stated the
selection criteria of a student knowledge ambassador as based on the following
traits;
• Socially
interactive
• Assertive
• Liberal – open to
ideas
• Has an ability of
networking
• Good
communicator
• Patient and have good
listening skills
• Team player
