Yagba Community Appeals for Even Spread of Academic Institutions in Kogi West by Siting New University in Yagba Federal Constituency

Yagba community in the Kogi West region has pleaded with the State Executive Council and the Committee overseeing the planned establishment of a new university in the state to consider their request for constructing the new university in Yagba Federal Constituency. In an effort to ensure an even distribution of academic institutions across the region, the community is urging that this new institution be sited in Yagba Federal Constituency, which comprises the three local government areas of Mopamuro, Yagba East, and Yagba West.

The appeal states that the Kabba Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, which already hosts the College of Agriculture from ABU Zaria, Kogi State College of Education Technical, and is the approved site for the Nigerian Law School Campus, is already densely populated with educational institutions. Furthermore, this region is located close to the Federal College of Education in Okene, State-owned Confluence University of Technology in Osara, and the Federal University of Lokoja.

Thus, to ensure that academic opportunities are spread throughout Kogi West, the Yagba community is requesting that Yagba Federal Constituency be considered for the location of the new university as it currently lacks any higher learning institutions.
